About us
What is Challengers?
"Challengers" is the name given to Blackhall St. Columba's Church Sunday School. We provide Christian education for children aged 3-10 years old on Sunday mornings during school term time.
Blackhall St. Columba's Church is a Church of Scotland congregation in Edinburgh Presbytery.
Where and when is Challengers?
The Children are split into three different age groups, with each group in one of the Church halls.
- Moonbeams
- Age 3-5 years, meet in the small hall
- Shooting Stars
- Age 5-7 years, meet in the upper hall
- Voyagers
- Age 7-10 years, meet in the large hall
Challengers meet from 10:50am to 12noon and runs from September to June. On the first Sunday of each month and during the summer months there is a 9:30am family service instead of Challengers.
What happens at Challengers?
Our themes/storylines are all Christian based and we include drama, songs art and projects throughout the year.
Who runs Challengers?
All Challengers' staff are volunteers. There is a leader for each of the three groups, who is supported by helpers from the congregation and parents on a rota. There is a co-ordinator who liaises with the minister and Kirk Session.
